A work in progress, “ . . . and Nixon coming” combines
fiction, art, and design to create a multifaceted narrative that arcs from the Moscow show trials of 1937 to the American Bicentennial in 1976. Divided into four parts, the work views the turbulent artistic and social ferment of the mid 20th century through the experiences of the main character, Kirby Holland, by means of his artwork — academic drawings, abstract paintings, comic-book pages, pop graphics, animation — and a mix of literary perspectives.
